Who am I?
Hello! My name is Dominique. I am currently embarking on my fitness journey. I follow a vegan-paleo diet and I exercise regularly.
These are my progress pictures from October 2013 to January 2014. I have lost 50 pounds so far!
I realize it is very hard to lose weight, maybe one of the hardest things I have ever done. That is why I created this website. I want to support those who are going on this journey to health. By no means am I a fitness expert. I am an average person, who is trying to lose weight and create an online community of other people who live a healthy lifestyle. On this site you will find reviews of fitness programs I have used and my favorite healthy foods and recipes. I hope you find this site useful! Enjoy!

Why I Began This Journey
I have struggled with my weight for a very long time. When I was younger, my mom was very conscious about our diet (she played basketball in college and was a former aerobics instructor). When I got older, I began to explore foods that I never ate before. I never had a steak until I was 16 years old! The problem was when I began to eat less healthy foods like red meat and fried foods, I became less active. I began to pack on the pounds. Then when I got to college, my weight spun out of control. My diet was filled with Chinese food, chips, ramen noodles, pizza, and Easy Mac. I have tried everything to loose weight. I have done Weight Watchers, Medifast, and all kinds of unhealthy diet supplements. I had given up on the idea of loosing weight after so many failed attempts and became content with my size and the way I looked.
One night I felt a horrible pain around my abdomen. I began to vomit and felt like I couldn't breath. After going to the hospital, they told me I had gallstones and had cholecystitis (an inflamed gallbladder). Your gallbladder is a small organ that store bile before it is released into the small intestine. When there is too much cholesterol in your gallbladder, stones will form. If there are too many stones, your gallbladder will become inflamed and cause extreme pain and nausea. For a year, I experienced many attacks, one of them that resulted in another trip to the hospital and a morphine drip. I had two choices. I could get a unnecessary surgery to further upset my digestive system or eliminate the foods that caused gallstones. So I went vegan. Since changing my diet, I have not had a single gallbladder attack. I also have more energy, I sleep better at night and I am generally in a better mood. I even noticed my menstrual cycle is much more bearable. I am not as moody and my menstrual cramps are not as intense. Eating clean was one of the best decisions I have made in my life and I do not plan on going back! I plan on living a healthy lifestyle for the rest of my life.
